In the Ocean is an island and ocean themed gallery and gift shop located on Alii drive at the Alii Gardens Marketplace in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Since 2014 we have proudly served the Big Island of Hawaii and its visitors. We offer photography printed on paper, metal, and canvas as well as other artwork and gift items.

Not at this time. We are actively looking into the licensing and insurance requirements and hope to offer photo tours in the future.
While we have used most major camera brands building this body of work, the majority of these images are taken on Nikon bodies. We really use our cameras and rely on the rugged build quality and weather-sealed designs Nikon provides.
Ikelite and Aquatech serve us well, as well as housings made by the camera manufacturer. Please dont trust a glorified plastic bag to protect your camera or phone, we often hear in the gallery how that went wrong for others.
We offer prints on paper, metal, and canvas.
Paper prints are glossy coated paper with a smooth, shiny surface and a high-contrast appearance.
Aluminum prints have a reflective surface. The colors are vibrant and the print comes ready to hang. Aluinum prints are known to add to the perception of depth in a print, a look that lends itself to landscape prints and underwater photography. They hold up well in various weather conditions and require very minimal upkeep. The most UV resistant type of print.
Canvas Giclees are printed on actual canvas giving the surface of the image a textured and almost painted look. Stretched and gallery wrapped canvas prints can be hung on the wall without the need for a costly frame. Canvas are more UV resistant than paper photos, but not as UV resistant as aluminum prints.

All prints ordered online are unsigned open edition prints.
Unsigned prints have a smaller ecological footprint. Signed prints have to be handle and shipped twice by the artist and staff and are available by request only. Additional fees apply.
I would also suggest to you that the illusion of the picture plane is best left intact in photography. I want you to experience the scene before you with the immediacy of actual being there.
No. All our online images have large watermarks. These are not on the print you receive, and the image is a higher quality than you see online.
All our prints are made in the USA. All gift items and soveneir products also made in the USA unless otherwise noted. See individual listing for details.
Standard shipping is 2-3 weeks for US & Canada Orders. Other international orders 4-6 weeks.
Please note that we only replace items if they are defective or damaged and that we do not accept returns on gift cards, services, or downloaded content. Online purchases must notify us within 5 days of receiving defective or damaged goods.
We aim for your complete satisfaction. If something is wrong with your order, please contact us immediately. Save the package and shipping materials if a return is required. Should your item(s) be defective or damaged during shipment we kindly ask that you take photos of damage to the packaging and items and email them to us at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can properly document it. We will work with our printing and delivery partners to resolve the issue and have a replacement sent to you.

Yes. Our site is only set up to process orders for the US and Canada at this time, however we are presently able to ship to Japan, New Zealand and Australia after receiving payment from an invoiced quote. We hope to add other countries in the future.
If you would like to request a quote for international shipping, please research your country's customs regulations prior to requesting an invoiced quote. If there are special instructions on how to ship an item to your country, please include it with the order when you contact us. Most domestic orders are sent out via FedEx. Small to medium sized paper prints and gift items are also delivered by USPS. International shipments vary by USPS, FedEx and DHL.

Yes, if you have a particular size requirement for your project, please contact us using the contact form and make sure to include the your name and email, the name of the image, the desired size, and whether you would like the image on paper, metal, or canvas. We will email you an invoice quote.
If an image is not available in larger sizes it most likely means the resolution of the image starts to break down beyond those sizes. If you are interested in an image being printed larger than we offer it online and would like for us to make an extra large print of the image, please email using our contact form to receive an invoiced quote. Make sure to include the image name and the desired size and medium as well as your contact information.
Yes. We only post low resolution thumbnails online. Printed images have higher resolution and detail.
If you are interested in purchasing a extra large installation piece please fill out our Contact Form and make sure to select "custom requst" as your reason for contact. Please include details about the project, including image name, images size, location of installation and approximate project budget.
Individual images may be rights managed and are available for commercial licensing on a case by case basis. Fill out our Contact Form and select Licensing as your reason for contact. Let us know the details of the project including end-client, industry, image name, image usage, size, quantity, territory and any other information necessary to put together a quote. If you have a project budget, let us know that amount and we may be able to take that into consideration.

We do not provide permission to reproduce artwork featured on In The Ocean due to our need to protect copyrights and future licensing agreements.
Typically, the answer is no. But you are welcome to contact us. Only offers with a health budget could be considered. Additional restrictions may apply.
